Key Dates

The following list will help you understand what to do and when.  More details to follow.

September 2014

• Look out for details of the Amala Trip and parents evening.
• Parents Evening on Wednesday October 1st 2015 at 6pm details of the trip and the 2011 video.
• Submit application for coming to Amala by Monday October 6th 2015 at 4pm.

October 2014

• Places on the trip confirmed, reserve list set up.
• Initial planning meeting schedule to students coming on the trip

November 2014

• Get fundraising and keep on fundraising
• £100 deposit for flight into Parent Pay by Nov 19th

January 2015

• Pay your £200 flight deposit into your Parent Pay account
• Check your passports and get them sent off.

February 2015

• Good month to get lots of fundraising in - so long as it is not snowing and you've planned a sponsored walk - that said you may get more money for being so daft!

March 2015

• Following an initial discussion on what you need, get yourself to your GP and start arranging your vaccinations.  Some treatments need to be taken at least 6 weeks before you travel.  Use this website for forward information about what you might need.
• Check with your GP what they charge for vaccinations.

April 2015

• This is VISA application time - you will need to complete an online form and send your passport to the Indian Embassy for putting a VISA in.  You will pay this directly, the total cost last year was £50.  This is part of your fundraising money.   We will give you guidance on completing the forms to make sure they are correct.  Passports are normally returned in less than a week.
• By the end of April ensure you have paid in at least an additional £581 into your account to cover the flight costs.  Everything else can be paid when we are there, but flights have to come first.

May 2015

• I have to pay the final flight costs
• I will need to have the full name as shown on your passport to send to the flight company and flight tickets will be issued.

June 2015

• Start getting your stuff lists together and purchasing the things you need for the trip.  Remember, conservative clothing girls (and some boys).
• Pay any final funds into your parent pay account by the end of the month
• Thursday June 20th at 7pm - final Parents Evening Meeting.

July 2015 (times and airports to be confirmed)

• Pack your bags and check that you have everything
• Meet at 9.00 am at the school on Sunday July 5th - remember no passport- no flighty!.  Travel to tbd on the bus and fly to Chennai via Dubai and off we go.
• Thursday 23rd July return about tea time after flying in from tbd, pick up back at school.  Text parents to let them know collection times.

August 2015 Onwards

• Share your experience, talk to friends, give assemblies in school, visit primary schools, do a presentation at University.  Let others know about Amala - go and continue helping others whatever you do!
